Construction Defect Case Involving Tom Hanks

Actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson recently received an arbitration ruling regarding their on going construction defect case.  The Hanks built a home in Idaho several years ago.  The home was plagued with many severe construction defects.  They instituted arbitration proceedings agains the architects, engineers, and building contractors.  Before the arbitration hearing, they settled with the architects and engineers for about $900,000. At the arbirtration, they argued that as it will cost as much as $3m to repair the remaining defects, and sought this amount from the contractors.  The arbitrators ruled against Tom and Rita.  They ruled that the defects were caused by the architects and engineers, not the contractors.

Construction defects even happen to rich and famous celebrities.
