Cyclist Accidents Mar Bike to Work Day

Two bicyclists were injured in separate accidents Friday morning, on Bike to Work Day. One of those injured was a Scripps Ranch High School Student. The 16 year old High School student was riding southbound on Scripps Ranch Boulevard when he lost control of his bike, and suffered a severe head injury. He ran into a utility pole and wall. He was taken by paramedics to the hospital.

A 49 year old man suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a dump truck on Mission Gorge Road in San Carlos. The cyclist was heading west when he was hit by a dump truck that was making a right turn out of the Superior Ready Mix and asphalt plant. He was also taken by paramedics to the hospital. Police report that his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
