California Highway Patro Announces Enforcement Priority re Distracted Driving

On Behalf of | Aug 3, 2013 | Firm News

The California Highway Patrol and other San Diego County Law Enforcement have announced that they plan to step up enforcement of penalties with respect to distracted driving during the month of April. April is National Distracted Driving Month, and the plan is to earnestly enforce penalties against drivers:

  • using cell phones
  • sending or reading texts
  • eating
  • applying makeup
  • any other activity that takes a driver’s eyes off the road

The CHP will be launching a month-long education campaign in addition to writing extra tickets. Be particularly wary on April 20-21, which the CHP has specifically targeted for focused enforcement days.
