A woman well known and beloved in the Alpine community was killed in a head-on collision Saturday night in Alpine. Catherine Marie Harless and her two dogs died at the scene of the accident Saturday night, when her Chevy Silverado Pickup was struck head-on by another pick up on Alpine Boulevard, just east of Flinn Springs. The driver of the other vehicle crossed the double yellow line and drove directly in front of Harless’ truck, causing a head-on collision, according to the CHP.
Harless was a member of a group called the Winchester Widows, a group of horsewomen who participated in local parades and portrayed characters from the old west. The group raises money for various charitable causes.
The driver of the truck who hit Harless was hospitalized, and will face charges related to driving under the influence. He is also likely to be charged with Vehicular Manslaughter.
