Slab cracks could be sign of construction defect

Seeing a crack in your slab can be very surprising, especially for individuals who live in a brand new home. Sometimes slab cracks are nothing to worry about, but other times they are cause for concern.

Slab cracks are sometimes caused by construction defects and can cause serious damage to your home if they are not repaired correctly. Many people living in a new construction home may be surprised to see slab cracks but it happens more than you would think.

Cracks in the concrete in your basement or driveway can be a sign of a construction defect. Most concrete slabs should not crack if they were done correctly, according to many officials in the construction industry.

When building a new home, it is important that the concrete is delivered in a timely manner and professionally laid and finished. It is also important that it is cured at the proper temperature and moisture. If not, cracks in the slab may occur and it could be due to construction defects and mistakes.

How do concrete slab cracks happen in new construction homes in California? Slab cracks in newer homes may be due to construction defects and improper construction by the construction company. Many residential construction companies try to save costs and may take shortcuts such as laying concrete slabs too fast or not follow the proper procedures when laying concrete. These shortcuts can lead to slab cracks and other defects in new homes.

Slab cracks and other construction defects can be hazardous for homeowners and guests who visit their home. Homeowners should be aware that they can take legal action against construction companies and contractors responsible for construction defects.
